Canada: Man seriously injured in bear attack

 

 

A man was seriously injured in a bear attack in West Calgary. The man was airlifted to hospital. The incident took place in the South Cochrane Forest on Thursday. One of two people who had gone hunting was attacked by a bear. The man who was with the victim shot and killed the bear. The bear was reportedly killed.

Fish and Wildlife officials also confirmed that another bear fled the scene. No further information is available on the condition of the man, who is being treated at Foothills Hospital in Calgary. Fish and Wildlife officials said that DNA samples will be collected from the injured man to confirm whether the bear that was shot and killed was the same one that carried out the attack. Officials have also launched an investigation into the circumstances that led the bears to attack the hunters.
